2019 Gainesville Big Latch On
The Global Big Latch On encourages and supports communities to make breastfeeding a normal part of day-today life and identifies opportunities to provide ongoing support for all families. On August 3rd 2019, we hosted the second annual Gainesville Big Latch On at the Historic Thomas Center. We had 113 babies latch on at the event and 330 total in attendance. These numbers were counted towards a worldwide count for the Global Big Latch On. On August 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2019, over 58,000 people around the world took part in the tenth Global Big Latch On, demonstrating their support for breastfeeding. At the specified time, over 18,500 children ‘latched’ and were breastfed.

2018 Gainesville Big Latch On
On August 4th 2018, we hosted the first annual Gainesville Big Latch On at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery. We had 70 babies latch on at the event and close to 200 total in attendance. These numbers were counted towards a worldwide count for the Global Big Latch On. On August 3rd, 4th and 5th 2018, almost 60,000 people around the world took part in the Global Big Latch On, demonstrating their support for breastfeeding. At the specified time, over 21,500 children ‘latched’ and were breastfed.
